Embracing Abundance
OUR HISTORY
Having purchased in 1985, 22 hectares of pastures, subsistence bushland along with 72 hectares of 50 years old secondary forest and primary forest; my family and colleagues set about to regenerate with native species and exotics in designs to boost biodiversity, accelerate ecological succession, along with providing a living for our family and two fellow workers and their families.
Now 37 years later, family grown and on their own paths, we still need to analyze information and keep up planting schedules in order to understand and replicate the old-ancient ecological growth patterns. At the same time continually harvesting (at a much better/slower pace) our Analog Forest Products; which include wood products, spices, essential oils, herbs, fruits.
ABOUT US
FAMILY FARM
In the same way we have ecological succession on the farm, our family also grew and developed our natural instincts by practice and didactical knowledge sharing that we have applied and over the years nature and we have all been blessed with abundance of Primary Eco-system services and abundance of organic food stuffs, oils and spices.
CENTRO DE BOSQUES ANÁLOGOS
In 2007, realizing the need for Capacity Building for farmers groups and professionals and having the support of International Analog Forestry Network, we created the infrastructure to have workshops and classroom curriculum for ecosystem restoration of degraded rural landscapes. Since that first workshop we have trained hundreds of farmers and accredited trainers into our worldwide system of Analog Forestry training program with now over 50 trainers.
MISSION
Producing primary ecological functions and Analog Forestry Products with knowledge gained through implementation studies and farm practices.
VISION
To provide the conditions for future natural and human growth.
FARM INFRASTRUCTURE
MEDITATION CENTRE
Built with Teak and bamboo grown on the farm from seed, on a homemade Island surrounded by rice paddies and with a primary forest backdrop; our meditation centre has been blessed by Tibetan Rinpoche Tenzin Wangyal and Lama Kalsan. Numerous sessions of Dharma teachings of Bon Buddhism have taken place for the benefit of both new and experienced adepts.
ESSENTIAL OILS DISTILLERY
With our aromatic crops of over 16 tropical spices and herbs that are grown under our Analog Forest canopy, we steam distill essential oils. Using primary rainforest water as a source of clean water to produce the carbon neutral steam (no fossil fuels) and using species that meet the requirements for quality therapeutic grade organic essences, we distill essential oils for local Spas.
POST HARVEST AND PROCESSING CENTRE
The majority of spices and herbs for the world markets are sun-dried, yet to better the quality and yield, we use a solar dryer connected to a 24 hour wood-burning dryer. Using low temperatures 37 to 42 degrees Celsius heating we slow-dry the products in order to dry from inside – out; as opposed to toasting first the outer sides of any rhizome, bark, seed, or flowers before they de-hydrate. Fermentation, de-husking, drying, cleaning stems, and grinding all take place with each harvested spice in our centre built with our homegrown wood and bamboo.
